For my design of the Carnival Publishing logo, I wanted something that had to do with carnivals. I started with ferris wheels and carnival tents but nothing looked right to me. I started to play with connecting the letters “C” and “P” and ended up with an infinity symbol that didn’t connect all the way. I added the feet on and realized that it looked like a roller coaster, especially if I connected the infinity sign. I then got what I wanted: something that resembled a roller coaster but, like many other great logos, has a double meaning in connecting a “C” and “P” together. I then added the HWT American Inset typeface because I had used it previously and knew that it was the carnival-like font. To offset this and make it seem more modern I used another sans serif typeface so it wasn’t too obnoxious. Then, on first thought, a red might seem to apply more to carnivals but I wanted something that seemed modern, fluid, and not as loud and in your face as a red so I settled on this blue color that is seen in the final logo.
